Rio Grande Games have released this resource-gathering civilisation
game.
Frist
impression are always a good hint of a game and based on the quality
of placing pieces this game got of to a great start. I've found
that with most games with punch out pieces there is always those
pieces that rip and tear. Not so with this game all nice clean
punch outs. I love the leather dice cup. The wooden playing figures
are a bit undefined.
Upon
opening the rulebook the first thing you see is a picture of the
gaming board. Around which is a numbered step by step-flow diagram
on the game setup. For those of us who just want to get stuck
in and play the game, and find out the rules as we go along, this
is a great idea, and works well.
Our
first attempt at the game took about 2 hours to play, as we where
reading the rules as we went (not too many misinterpretations
of the rules). The next two games took around 60 minutes each
to play.
The game round consists of three phases. In the first players
place their people on the game board, In the phase players use
the actions of their placed people. The third consists of players
feeding their people.
The strategy level of this game may not be high, but I have played
at least 10 games now and have enjoyed every one so far (even
the ones I didn't win). Playing with four players would be best.
Playing with two is a quick, fun game.
If your looking for a bash up game this one isn't for you. This
is a good family game, and a highly recommend it as such.
